A Sudden Fall || Ianto & Jenny

his-child-of-the-machine:

Jenny shrugged again. “I guess no pain no gain.” She didn’t like to dwell on the thought. She’d made it so far. It hadn’t been easy at all. it had been the exact opposite, but she’d pushed all of the pain to the very back of her mind. “You think I’m beautiful” She asked. “Wow! Thank you! That’s so sweet! You’re quite the looker yourself! I think that’s part of being Welsh.” She added with a laugh.

He nodded in understanding and once again bit back the urge to bring her close in a hug. “You are beautiful,” he said again. He looked down at the floor with a smile. “I’m not sure if that’s quite right, but thank you.”

Jack smiled a bit when he heard his name, “Thank you,” he whispered, kissing the side of Ianto’s head affectionately. He paused, thinking, “Parts of it,” he decided, “The actual war and fighting, I don’t miss that at all, but I do miss the simplicity. Life was a lot easier back then, less alien threats, more time to relax. It was just…a different way of life.”

Ianto flushed at the attention and brought his glass back up to his lips to sip at it. “And the people?” he asked in a small voice. “I’m sure you’ve left your fair share of friends behind.”

Jack let out a slight exasperated sigh, “Ianto, you can drop the sir, you know,” he said, flashing him a smile in hopes it would lighten the Welshman’s mood. He turned back to the bartender, “A second glass,” he said, taking the two drinks from him. He handed one glass to Ianto before taking a sip from his own. “This reminds me of back during the war, the parties they’d throw for the soldiers, although, this is a bit more formal.”

Ianto took the glass with a nod. “Jack then,” he agreed before taking a swig. “I guess these sort of things don’t really change much,” he noted. “Do you miss it,” he asked. “That time, I mean.”

Jack rolled his eyes, “I think I should take offense to that,” he said, “But do try to have a little bit of fun, we haven’t had a night out in a long time, we need to enjoy it while it lasts,” he said. He moved his hand from Ianto’s tor each down and take the Welshman’s hand, squeezing it reassuringly. He led him to the bar, “I’ll have a scotch,” he said, turning to Ianto, “What would you like?” He asked with a smile.

Ianto just shrugged. It wasn’t as if he meant to offend Jack, but he stood by what he said. “I’m sure I’ll have plenty of fun, sir,” he answered. “At the very least you’ll have enough fun for the both of us.” He followed his lover over to the bar. “I’ll just have the same thing,” he replied.

Jenny shrugged. “Not many people do. He thought I was dead for a very long time and didn’t talk much about me. But here I am! daughter of the doctor!” She smiled. Her cheeks flushed when Ianto said her name was pretty. “Wow! Thank you! It’s kind of plain. Ianto is an interesting name! Do you know where it’s from?” She cocked her head to the side curiously.

"Oh," he replied. "That can’t have been easy, for either of you I imagine." He suddenly felt the need to wrap the girl up in a hug and protect her from anything that might seek to harm her. The desire caused him to flush and he cleared his throat again before answering her.

"Plain isn’t bad," he defended. "And I think it suits you. Beautiful name, beautiful girl." He sent her a small smile. "It’s Welsh," he stated. "As am I."

Jenny let out a small laugh at how nervous he seemed. “You know my Uncle Jack!” She said with a smile. “I should probably introduce myself.” She added, extending a hand to be shaken. “I’m Jenny. I think you know my Dad, the Doctor.” She figured he would know him. The Doctor was pretty popular amongst the Torchwood crowd. Jenny raised an eyebrow. Ianto looked a bit pale. “You alright?” She asked.

"Your uncle?" he questioned. He though Jack only had the one brother and he definitely didn’t seem like the type to have kids. He blinked again before catching on and taking her hand in his. He ignored the fact that her skin was ridiculously soft and simply shook. "I… didn’t know the doctor had a daughter," he said with a fair amount of confusion in his voice.

He cleared his throat and straightened his tie. “Oh, yes, I’m fine. Sorry. Um. Jenny. That’s a beautiful name.”

Jenny looked over her shoulder. Someone caught her eye. He was a well dressed man, not unattractive, looking slightly flustered. That wasn’t what caught her attention though. It was his tie. The same tie Jack had been wearing. She knew in an instant it was Ianto. She walked over to him, beaming. “Ianto, right?” She asked.

Ianto blinked a few times as he stood firmly in place while watching his mystery girl catch his eye and then walk towards him almost in slow motion. He looked behind him and around the room a bit to see if she might be heading somewhere else, anywhere else. When he finally looked forward again she was there. His name, she said his name. How did she know his name?

"Um… yes? Yes! I am Ianto. Do I um, know you?" Outside of my dreams that is, he added in his head.

Jack rolled his eyes behind his mask, pulling Ianto closer by his waist as they walked into the ballroom. “Relax, okay, nothing catastrophic is going to happen, I promise,” he said, “It’s just going to be a fun night of drinking and dancing, like that time at Gwen’s wedding…only without a psychotic alien mother trying to kill us all.” He was starting to understand the Welshman’s worry. He shook his head, glancing around, “Nice place they have here, I wonder who put all this together. Oh well, something to worry about later. Right now, I think, we should get started with a drink. How does that sound?”

Ianto sent a small glare in Jack’s direction as he shuffled along by his side. “Sorry to doubt your word, sir, but I highly doubt this is just going to be a nice night out. Something always inevitably goes wrong when you’re involved. And the rest of the guest list aren’t exactly a comfort either.” He sighed at Jack’s carefree attitude but didn’t argue. “Sure,” he answered.

Confusion was the first thing he felt. Well, no, that wasn’t really true. Love came first. The confusion hit him second but they were sort of intertwined now. It wasn’t the same sort of love he felt for Jack, which could have been the confusing part. The woman whose name he had yet to discover was beautiful, almost indescribably so. He’d seen her about the room a few times over the time he’d been there. He even spotted her talking to Jack at one point. But it wasn’t until he really got a good look at her did he feel it. The increased heart rate, sweaty palms, shallow breathing, he was definitely in love. Now he just had to work up the courage to say hello.

Formal Parties || Ianto & Rory

the-time-traveling-centurion:

He saw the way Ianto got when he started speaking about Jack. It was the same way he used to get when he talked about Amy. ”It’s complicated, isn’t it? It’s fine with me, though; I don’t care what people like,”

"So Jack’s going, that’s good. You going with him?"

Ianto glanced up into Rory’s face with a surprised look. It was refreshing and just a little frightening how understanding the man seemed to be. He flushed a bit and turned away to continue walking. “It’s just him,” he stated in a vague attempt at clarifying his preference, although he wasn’t sure why he felt the need to.

"Um, yes. We’ll be attending together. What about you?" he asked to change the subject. "Going with someone?"
